I love the snow; there is something magical about those fat, fluffy flakes as they cascade from the sky and cover everything in a sparkling crystal blanket. Snow is serene and quiet – it makes me feel at peace.
I can smell it in the air before it arrives and I actually get giddy when I see the first heavy snowfall of the year piling up outside the house! There are times that I go out at 3:00 in the morning to shovel (it is incredibly quiet and peaceful then!), and the snow is so bright that it seems almost like dawn is breaking.
Yes, I know I’m strange. Thankfully, my husband loves that about me.
Needless to say, when I discovered this recipe last night in an antique cookbook from 1886, it just tickled me pink and I had to share it with all of my fellow snow-lovers out there!
I hope you enjoyed this little recipe as much as I did!
